Eugene, OR
(February 7, 2003) –
When you associate BowTech with bucks and bulls, you’d normally think of
the 8-point variety in the late-season rut. Now it’s time to think
differently because BowTech has just inked a sponsorship agreement with
the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) for the 2003 season.
BowTech
makes its debut with the PBR beginning with the first event in February at
the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. This also marks the beginning of a
relationship between BowTech and world-class bull rider/bowhunter Tony
Mendes, a Top-10 rider on the 2002 PBR tour. Mendes will be wearing the
BowTech logo every time he rides this year.
The
sponsorship agreement includes print advertising for BowTech in the
official 8 Seconds program
distributed at every PBR event, as well as the new Pro Bullrider magazine.
BowTech will be the title sponsor of the Standings page on the official
PBR Web site, www.pbrnow.com, and both partners will have reciprocal
links. All 29 PBR events will be televised this year and, along with the
top prize of $1,000,000 on the Built Ford Tough Series, will give way to
unprecedented exposure for the PBR and its sponsors.
The
association with the PBR establishes a milestone for BowTech in that it is
their first sponsorship outside of the archery industry. But the
sponsorship is a perfect match up with a spectator sport that attracts a
large number of hunting enthusiasts. In fact, of all the major sports
available today, the PBR has the highest percentage of hunters in its fan
base and the highest percentage of audience members with an active outdoor
lifestyle.
“We
see this sponsorship as an opportunity for PBR fans, many who are already
hunters, to experience the thrill and excitement of archery, and to
discover the benefits that BowTech’s product line has to offer,” said
Gene Shands, the Director of Marketing for BowTech. “We are excited to
be partnered with the rapidly-growing and well-regarded sport of
professional bull riding.”
BowTech
will establish a presence at a minimum of 15 PBR events throughout the
nation this season, and will be offering its authorized dealers the
opportunity to be involved at each location. Tony Mendes will also be on
hand to sign autographs and participate in the onsite shooting range that
BowTech will bring to selected events. Visitors to the shooting range will
get hands-on experience with BowTech products and can test the bows, while
pitting their own archery skills against a bull riding pro.
“PBR
enthusiastically welcomes BowTech to our family of corporate sponsors,”
stated Sean Gleason, Chief Operating Officer of the PBR. “We look
forward to helping BowTech introduce their incredible product line through
an enjoyable fan experience at PBR events.”
