| Team Carbon Express
continues to raise the bar and break records
FLUSHING, Mich. (August 6, 2003) – John Soper, set a new record – 885
points – on June 29, 2003, at Burnaby. The old record was 881.
Soper was using a Martin Phantom II at 57 pounds with the Carbon Express CXL Select 250s. Soper was not on staff at the time, but he is now! He had finally been convinced to try our arrows and it paid off.
“I tried these arrows on the Friday before and was very impressed with them; it was like getting a new lease on life. I had been struggling with my ACE arrows, trying to get them to group … with the
CXLs there was hardly any effort,” Soper said.
Soper started shooting in 1974 and since then has become one of the top archers in Canada. He has received two silver medals and one gold medal at the Canadian Championships. Other victories include the BC Championships, the BC Summer Games and the PNAA.
“I'm looking forward to continuing my success with your arrows,” Soper added.
At the ASA shoot in Auburn, Ind., four out of top-five finishers in the Senior Division were shooting Carbon Express, three of which are Carbon Express staff. Samantha Kline won the Women’s Open, while Natasha Milan won in the Young Women’s Class. Both women have the lead for Shooter of the Year in the class.
Bob Eyler, a staff shooter, came in second in the Men’s Pro Class. Eyler is being sent to France by Mathews to shoot in the World IBO Team competition. It’s the first time this event has ever taken place and one of the top shooters going to represent the U.S. will be shooting Carbon Express Arrows.
Recently, in Austria, 17-year-old female staff member Eva Zecha was shooting the new Medallion shafts in FITA competition – a first for this arrow. Zecha set a new Junior Division record for Austria. Zecha also set a new 70-meter record as well as a new record for 50 and 40 meters.
Zecha is only the second person in both junior and adult classes to break the 1350 mark.
Here is quote from Jeff Fabry, a member of the U.S. Disabled Archery team. “ I just wanted to say thanks for sending the Medallions out to me. What an accurate shaft! I have been shooting them for several weeks now and they have really impressed me. My average at 70 meters jumped 10 points as soon as I drew one back!”
