Martin Cougar M2000

The cougar is fast, sleek and ready to chase down its prey at any time. The Martin M2000 shares the "Cougar" name for the same reasons. Its 40 1/8 axle-to-axle length gives it forgiveness and super quiet performance. Does it perform like it says it does? You bet! A brace height of 6 5/8 inches gives it adequate length for speed without sacrificing too much of the built in forgiveness. The standard let-off is 75 percent, which is easy to hold, but the 65 percent option is quicker and better for shooting.

The mass weight of the bow is a mere 3 pounds, 15 ounces for a light but steady bow that sits in your hand rock steady with no top limb falling forward or back ... it just sits there saying, "shoot me." The choices of draw lengths and weights are very wide. The weights start at 40 and can go to 70 pounds, in ten pounds increments. There are no changeable modules with the Fury cam — you must specify your draw length. So, be sure to check your AMO draw length.

Is this bow fast? Well, I have shot a lot of bows with fingers and this bow ranks near the top. I shot the bow at 60 pounds, 27-inch draw length, with both carbon and aluminum arrows. Remember, advertised bow speeds are measured at 30 inches of draw length and
70 pounds of draw weight (IBO).

Using 2213 Easton Aluminum arrow weighing a total of 430 grains, the arrow propelled out at an average of 236.8 fps! Now remember, this is shooting with fingers, an over-weight arrow and three inches under the 30-inch draw length standard (IBO). Carbon arrows produced an average speed of 252.8 fps! Now if I had a "mans" draw length of 29 or 30 inches and seventy pounds of draw weight, I probably shot at least 25-35 fps faster.

The metal-machined cams performed flawlessly and accurately putting groups in a two-inch circle shot after shot at 20 yards! The machined riser is equipped with the VEM system (vibration escape module), which virtually makes the bow shock free. The hardwood handle inlays are installed and give this bow a great feeling grip. The looks are even more enhancing!

The sharp looking Advantage Timber camo will match just about any terrain you choose. Grey Phantom camo is an alternative camo pattern along with a multitude of target colors.

This bow must be classed with some of the best bows for its money! In the ballpark of $499.99, the quality at this price is hard to beat.

There is one feature that I would like to see, and that is the ability to have every archer shoot this Martin before they buy another bow. This bow is top-notch quality and will make heads turn without emptying wallets. Try one, it is one incredible bow at one incredible price.
