Mathews
UltraMax

Spring 1999 The
Fall of '98 is the first deer season that any of my hunting buds had owned a Mathews bow. I personally do not own a Mathews,
but I have test fired them several times.
My hunting buddies agree with what they claim, "Speed without a
Kick!" Well I disagree, there is speed... but with a kick. Both own the UltraMax model, shooting Gold
Tip arrows, two prong style arrow rest, and pin sights (one pin to
be exact). Both hunters stated that their bow was very quite
while shooting in the lower 300's fps.
Both hunters have owned more bows
than the number of times they told me how much they like their
new Mathews bow, well maybe not that many bows, but they have
owned a lot. They said that it would be several years before even
considering a different bow, or should I say a different model of
Mathews. Both also stated how much they liked the Mathews
accessories when compared to third-party items.
Neither one
of them said any thing about the weight of the bow, but that's
probably because they don't even notice or pay any attention to
the weight. Weighing in at just 3.25 pounds, it's in the "fly
weight" class but can K.O. the "heavy weights."
Another plus that both hunters pointed out to me is how quiet the
bows shoot. I asked them "Are the bows worth the money?"
They both really didn't have much to say about the price of $500+, but both said that they would buy one tomorrow if something
happened to their bow today.
