Carbon Force Arrows

Summer 2001 — Has carbon arrow technology become simple science?  It seems that just about everyone is trying get their hand into the carbon arrow cookie jar.

Years ago when carbon arrows first starting hitting the market, they were very expensive and used mainly in competition.  Now we see carbon arrows in youth and economy models that are very affordable.  A dozen economy carbon arrows can be purchased for just slightly more than a dozen of high quality aluminum arrows.

This review will look at PSE's Carbon Force economy hunting arrow — the 'Dominator'.

Straightness +/- 0.006"

200 = 6.7 grains per inch
300 = 7.8 grains per inch
400 = 8.9 grains per inch
Nocks = 13 grains
Inserts = 12 grains

I received three arrows of the 300 size.  Checking first the tolerances for weight and straightness, I found both physical characteristics to be well within published technical data from PSE.  In fact the straightness tolerance actually surprised me.  Using an arrow straightening gauge, I found none of the arrows to be over 0.004".  I thought that was pretty good and rather impressive.

These arrows are hand wrapped and multi-layered for maximum strength and high quality.  Nocks are press fit without a securing screw and do not require any glue.

After shooting the arrows several times, flight characteristics and accuracy are no different than any other carbon arrow in it's class.

In conclusion, the 'Dominator' is a pretty good hunting shaft with a competitive price.  Availability should be very good because of PSE's respectable share of the market.
