May 5, 2001 It seems anymore that the archery market
is flooded by variations of the two-prong style arrow rest (the army).
Most of these arrow rests do not offer any real performance advantages or
additional features over the other. Until now...
Scout
Mountain Equipment (SME) a small, but high tech, company based out of
Pocatello, Idaho, has built an exciting new two prong style arrow rest (the
idea) that is everything except ordinary.
The SME Micro Magna arrow rest has
the exact same concept as other two-prong style arrow rest but uses very
different components that make it the best of the best.
Say good bye to the spring component
that two-prong style arrow rest use. This rest uses magnets to tension the
arrow holder.
The advantages of using magnets are; one less moving part,
less set screws, very smooth and constant arrow holder tension, and less
noise. A spring loaded arrow rest simply cannot compete.
A new dimension to
micro-adjustment has been added by the very easy to use adjustment knob.
Loosen one set-screw and then turn the knob to micro adjust to the right or
left.
Adding to the feature-rich list are the Teflon-tipped prongs.
These ballistic tips reduce friction, hence, adding the element of stealth
without the addition of other silencing material that has to be replaced
regularly. The prongs offer a full range of adjustment to effortlessly fit
any arrow shaft diameter.
This arrow rest is very easy to
setup, in fact, the easiest I have ever used. Its components make it virtually
maintenance free. Its structure is very well engineered and will last you
forever or until SME comes up with something better.
This arrow rest is currently offered
in right hand only. Maybe we will see a left hand and a camo version in
the near future.
