T.R.U. Ball Deluxe
Tornado Release

Sep. 22, 2001 Being a release shooter, using the right release is almost as
important as using the right bow. Years ago the only thing I cared about
in a release is that when I pulled the trigger it let go of the string.
After a few misfires and hardware failures, I knew it was time to find something
better that I could depend on.
My search for the perfect hunting release aid began on the
Internet. One of the first sites I visited was T.R.U. (Tomorrow's
Resources Unlimited, Inc.) and I my attention was immediately taken by the
Deluxe Tornado.

This release has two features that pushed me over the edge of
commitment. The first, noticeable by the eye, was the adjustable trigger
position. You will notice in the picture above, a small set screw on the
trigger, which can be loosened allowing the trigger position to be adjusted
forward or back (4 positions). This feature is great for micro adjusting
your trigger-finger position for added comfort and trigger control.
The second feature is the reversed spring tension on the
calipers. Most caliper style releases have a spring tension that force the
calipers open once the trigger is pulled past a certain point. With this
style of release you must push the trigger forward to close the calipers.
Not the case with the Tornado.
All you have to do is pull the
trigger, place the calipers on your connection point (string or loop), and let
go of the trigger. The spring tension will close the calipers. This
excellent feature will eliminate bad release lock-on associated with other
caliper style releases.
This release has a 360 degree rotating head and hand-length
adjustment for a perfect custom fit. The release can also be tucked away
during non-use, shown in the picture. This is a nice feature while
climbing a tree, but I suggest not to tuck the release head in your sleeve.
First of all, it's more trouble than it's worth.
Try pulling it out of your
sleeve when a deer gives you an early surprise. Instead of hiding the
release in your sleeve fold the release against your forearm and slide a thick
rubber band over your arm and release. Put the rubber band around your
wrist when not using. This method is much easier to manage and access to
the release much quicker during the surprise moments.
Everything else about the release is pretty much standard, when
compared to other releases, including a sensitivity set-screw and a very
comfortable wrist strap.
To sum everything up into one statement. I like this
release! Overall, it has helped me shoot better because of its unique
unmatched features, performance and comfort.
